Born Jan. 15, 1913, Beulah Watson Henry was born in Townsend to the late Anthony Watson Sr. and Ethel Watson. She was one of 18 children. Mrs. Henry was a domestic engineer all her adult life, devoting herself to family, God and friends. She was famous for her rice pudding, ginger bread and the gift of the oratory. Mrs. Henry was a member of Lee-Haven United Methodist Church in the Pine Tree area of Townsend since 1961. She worked diligently for the Lord on several ministries, including serving as a Communion Steward for 28 years. Mrs. Henry was a faithful member until her illness affected her attendance. She is survived by three sons, Warner Henry (Cleo) of Dover, Donald Henry (Geraldine) of Elkton, Md., and Glen Henry (Andrea) of Townsend; two daughters, Josephine Simmons (Samuel) of Clayton and Bettye Henry Bellamy of Dover; two granddaughters that she reared, Rochelle Gassaway of Redmond, Wash., and Tira (Damon) Johnson of Wilmington. There are also 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; one brother, Dorsey (Mozelle); three sisters, Sadie Watson, Hazel Watson and Jeanette Watson; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Watson of Townsend. Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Dallas Henry. "They are together again." Services will be noon Wednesday at Lee-Haven United Methodist Church, 413 Blackbird Landing, Townsend. Friends may call 10 a.m.-noon at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Beverly Holland will officiate and the Rev. Shirlyn Henry Brown will be the eulogist. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
