Bettye P. Greenly HARRINGTON - Bettye P. Greenly, of Harrington, passed away on June 7, 2010 in Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 86. Bettye was born on March 19, 1924 in Hattiesburg, Miss., the daughter of Roy M. Pooley and Bess Boozer. Bettye and her family moved to Jacksonville, Fla. in 1927 where she was raised. Bettye met Fred B. Greenly Jr. , of Harrington, in 1941 and they were married on December 19, 1943 in Harrington. Fred B. Greenly preceded her in death in 1995. They were married for 52 years. Bettye devoted her life to her beloved family and children. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 11 of Harrington; the Harrington Senior Center; and Asbury United Methodist Church, of Harrington. Preceded in death by her husband – Fred B. Greenly Jr., brother – Leslie Carl Pooley Bettye is survived by her three sons; Fred B. Greenly III, of Smith's Station, Ala., David R. Greenly, of Ocean View, Del., and W. Allen Greenly, of Cumming, Ga.; her brother, Roy M. Pooley Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; her two sisters: Dorothy Shephard, of Orlando, Fla. and Margaret Mauer, of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many more extended family members. There will be a memorial service held at Melvin's Funeral Home on South Rt. 13 in Harrington at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Graveside services will be privately held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the American Epilepsy Society, 342 N. Main, Suite 301, West Hartford, CT. 06112-2507.
