PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Betty Mitchell Bland Turner, of Port St. Lucie, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in St. Lucie Medical Center. She was 76.
She was born in Ocean View, Del., daughter to the late Clarence E. and Cecile (Tyre) Mitchell.
Betty was a graduate of the Lord Baltimore High School, Ocean View.
She and her first husband, James T. Bland, lived in the Ocean View area until 1967, when they moved to Florida.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Prior to and during her illness, Betty was a great homemaker who loved her family dearly.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in passing by her first husband, James T. Bland, in 1991; brother, Horace Mitchell; and sisters, Nellie Davis and Dorothy Hancock.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Curtis H. Turner; three daughters, Linda B. Turner, Barbara B. Kearns and Laura B. Acosta, all of Palm Beach County, Fla.; five grandchildren, Donald, Trinity, Tommy III and twins Alex and Amanda; eight great-grandchildren, T.J., Brittany, Wade, Kindall, Cameron, Draven, Pheonix and Thomas IV; a sister, Ann Baker of Delaware; and two brothers, Harvey Mitchell and Tom Mitchell, both of Delaware.
A funeral service will be noon Saturday in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street, Frankford, Del., where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be in St. Georges Cemetery, Clarksville, Del.
