Betty Joan Ray

HARTLY - Betty Joan "Grace" Ray, of Hartly, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. She was 80. Mrs. Ray was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Lamesa, Texas, to the late Leroy and Vida Gautney. She was a homemaker and loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ray enjoyed traveling all over the country during her husband's 30 years in the United States Air Force. She collected bells and plates from all over the United States. Mrs. Ray had attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dover. Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dallas Leroy Ray of Hartly; sons, Dallas Lee Ray Sr. and his wife Janie of Hartly, James A. Ray and his fiancé Jody of Hartly; daughter, Phyllis L. Fitzcharles of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Matthew Dawson, Michelle Hicks, Dallas Ray, Jr. and Amy Fitzcharles; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
