GEORGETOWN - Betty J. Van Auken of Georgetown passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2007, in her home. She was 77.
Betty was born in Georgetown, daughter of the late Clarence E. and Bessie (Isaacs) Betts.
She was a secretary for the Indian River School District for many years, retiring in 1981.
Betty was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church and was the pianist for Georgetown Wesleyan Church for 40 years.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Van Auken in 1988.
Her survivors include, three children, James Van Auken, Kay McClenny and her husband, John and Donna Green and her husband, Dennis, all of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Suzanne Lewczak, Alan Green, Holly Van Auken, Lacey Chism, Kyle McClenny and Ashley McClenny; two great-grandchildren, Angela Lewczak and Mikayla Green; three brothers, William Betts, Irvin Betts and Kenneth Betts, all of Georgetown; and a sister, Doris Dorman of Long Neck.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
