Betty Emma Smith

MILFORD - Betty Emma Smith, 86, of Milford and formerly of Altoona, Pa., died Thursday, March 10, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, Pa., daughter of the late Robert F. and Anna D. (Kinney) Glunt. Her family and friends will remember her as a loving wife, devoted mother and friend. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred P. in 2004; and her son, Frederick P. Smith, Jr. in 2005. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters; Sharon A. Hathaway (Donald) of Manteca, Calif., and Mary C. and Barbara L. Smith with whom she resided; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Thursday, March 17, at 2 p.m at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church St., Milford, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or, The Milford Community Food Bank, 20 North Church St., Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
