Bessie R. Hughes

RIDGELY, Md. - Bessie R. Hughes went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Mar. 5, 2017, at her home.
Born in Ridgely, Md. on Dec. 28, 928, Mrs. Hughes was the daughter, of the late James Roland Clark and Edna Ruth Tomlinson Clark.
Her husband, Wallace Edward Hughes, died Mar. 4, 2012.
Mrs. Hughes was a dedicated homemaker, wonderful mother, and beloved wife. She was a graduate of Ridgely High School. A talented musician, who played bass and guitar. She and her family travelled throughout the East Coast, singing as the Bluegrass family group, The Hughes Family. She and her family loved caring for and riding horses. Described as an "Awesome Mom", she also hunted, field dressed, and cooked her own wild game.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by four daughters, Patricia A. Lewis of Ridgely, Md., Joanne E. Jeffers (Jim) of Holly Hill, S.C., Janice D. Blades (Tom) of Ridgely, Md., and Pam J. Clawson (Bob) of Greenville, S.C.; one son, Wallace E. Hughes, Jr. (.L.isa) of Round Hill, Va.; three sisters, Doris Lomax of Dover, Edna M. Wheeler of Dover, and Mary Lou Vozzo, of Mississippi; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grand children.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 10th, 2017, at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, located at 300 W. Sunset Ave. in Greensboro, Md. where friends may call from 10 until 11 a.m., before the service.
The service will be followed by a gathering, at the Church Fellowship Hall, until 1:30 p.m.
The interment will be at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, located at 2928 Sharon Hill Rd., near Dover.
