Bertha Augusta (McDaniel) Sweetman, 83

GEORGETOWN -- Bertha Augusta (McDaniel) Sweetman, 83, of Georgetown, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at her home. She was employed for 31 years as a certified nursing assistant at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Unity Chapter, Lewes. She was born in Los Angeles on March 13, 1925, daughter of the late Sam and Elsie (Keil) McDaniel. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Anderson; and her first husband, Art Ayers. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Charles "Bob" R. Sweetman; a daughter, Clarene Hoyt of Sherwood, Ark.; sons, Charles Ayers of Licking, Mo., and Robert Ayers of Texarkana, Texas; stepson, Robert C. Fordham of Baldwin, Ga.; stepdaughter, Diana Sweetman of Batesville, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Eastern Star Services followed by Christian funeral services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, with the Rev. Dr. Frank S. Deming Jr. officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Drasco, Ark. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
