Benjamin Maricondo

DOVER - Benjamin Maricondo, formerly of Stratford, Conn., passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2016, a few months before his 99th birthday. A proud military man, he spent WWII in the European Theatre with the Army Air Corps. During his 20-plus years in the Air Force, he was stationed in Alaska, Maine, California, Greenland, Morocco, England and Dover AFB. Ben was a friendly and outgoing person who loved music, singing and dancing and especially his family. He was an avid organic vegetable gardener. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Cecilia Maricondo; his parents, Liberato and Elizabeth Louisa Maricondo; and 14 siblings. Ben is survived by his beloved daughter, Linda Brzoska (John), of Hockessin; daughter, Janet Ambrose (Bob), of Florida; his grandchildren, Daniel Brzoska (Eileen), of Texas, Mark Brzoska, of Hockessin; Bob Ambrose, Jr. and Lorri Carlson (Bill), both of Connecticut; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Rick Collin, of Dover. Ben's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Delaware Veterans Home – Blue Wing for their kindness and the exceptional care given to Ben. His family also appreciates the kindness and care given to them, especially in his final days. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at 1:45 p.m. in the chapel at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy., where friends may visit after 1:15 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
