Born on July 19, 1936, in Carter County, Tenn., Bea was the daughter of the late Frank and Rebecca Brummitt.

She worked as a short order cook at the Glass Kitchen for 32 years. In between years, she owned and operated Bea"s and Ed"s Country Kitchen and Sub Shop of Middletown.

Bea enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, collecting her dolls and antiques of odd sorts. She loved to talk on the phone to her Aunt Billie, her sister and best friend, spending time with Aunt Lorene while sitting on the porch watching the birds, going to church and having lunch afterwards, spending time with her dog Dori, and fussing at her brother-in-law Bill and "kids" - her nieces and nephews.

She was a charter member of the Middletown W.O.T.M., where she served as senior regent then College of Regents.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Bert "Ed" Roberts, on April 22, 2004.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, William Hamby of Middletown; three sisters, Billie Hamby, Lorene Hamby and Frances Roberts, all of Middletown; a brother, Kenneth Brummitt of Elizabethton, Tenn.; as well as many nieces and nephews and greats alike.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery.
