Barbara Swett Gullett, 101

NEW ORLEANS - Barbara Swett Gullett passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. She was 101.

Mrs. Gullett graduated from Plymouth High School and Plymouth Normal School both in Plymouth, N.H. and from Columbia Teachers College in New York, N.Y., developed her career as a music teacher and started the Seaford School Band, Seaford, Del.

She was active in the D.A.R., the Colonial Dames and was a member of St. John Methodist Church, Seaford.

Mrs. Gullett was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Gullett; daughter, Nan Gullett Krause; son, James Gullett; parents, Mary Nye Swett and Harry Swett; and two sisters, Catharine Sibley and Elizabeth Tate.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Gullett Ryan of New Orleans; her son, George P. Gullett of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. John Methodist Church.
