Hutchison, 84 SMYRNA - Barbara P. Hutchison, resident of Smyrna Del., passed away peacefully October 29, 2014 at the Seasons Hospice wing of Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Born in Berlin, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Nellie C. Post. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where she loved the beach and easy living and spent the majority of her life there raising her children with her husband of twenty-three years, Eugene Carstens, who predeceased her in 1988. Barbara was employed by the Boards of Education in both Wicomico County, Md. and Sussex County, Del. and dedicated her life to teaching Elementary and Special Ed students. She retired in 1985 after 27 years of service. Barbara was a wonderful Musician and from the mere age of 13 she began to also make a living by playing the organ for many churches, weddings and various other special occasions. She believed in the uplifting ability of music and shared that joy with many throughout her life. Through a second passion of hers, the game of golf, she met and married William "Hutch" Hutchison and enjoyed a wonderful 23 years of travel and other retirement pleasures. Her goal for her golf game was that she would live long enough to "Shoot her age" which was just a couple of eagles away accompanied by a few hole in ones. Her treasured "Hutch" predeceased her in 2008. Barbara is survived by three beloved children, Philip Carstens and family of Henderson, Nevada, Kim Carstens Murphy and family of Finksburg, Md. and Bobbi Jean Carstens and family of Salisbury, Md. She is also Survived by an extended family including seven wonderful grand-children, six great grandchildren and many Hutchison family members. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
