MILFORD - Barbara Ann (Radell) Rhodes, passed away quietly on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. Barbara was born on Aug. 7, 1941 in Chester, PA. She was preceded in death by her mother Emily L. Donavon; her father, Robert M. Radell; her step-father, Donald G. Donavon; her son, Edward Carey, who passed away Jun. 18, 1997; her twin sister, Roberta Greenley; cousin, Richard Van Patton; step-daughter, Virginia Rhodes; and sister-in-law, Leona (Rhodes) Lucas. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald F. 'Dusty' Rhodes, who loved her very very much; five wonderful and devoted children, two daughters, Annmarie (Carey) Faulkner and husband Paul of Lincoln, and Sylvia (Carey) Waller and husband Bo of Georgetown; three sons, Archie Carey and wife Candy of Laurel, Matt Carey and wife Lisa of Milford, and Mark Carey and wife Debra of Felton; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Carey, Thomas Carey, Heidi Carey, Jacob Carey, Emily Carey, Taylor Wagner, Jacob Wagner, Karoline Carey, Leah and Dustin Carey, Amber Faulkner, and Blake Faulkner; three great-grandchildren, John Piper, Christopher Piper, and Jasmine Piper; two nieces, Charlotte Marcha Cox and Brian, Dawn Morgan and John; three great-nieces, Dana Farmer and Kristen Cox and their children, Toni Greenley, and her son Jared; one great-nephew, William Greenley; a step-son, Donald Rhodes (Dondon) 2nd and his family; and three grandchildren Destiny, Jewel, and Brandon. Barbara will be missed very much by family and every person that ever knew her. She was one of the most loving and caring persons you could ever hope to meet. She enjoyed crafts, making afghans, tablecloths, coasters, bedspreads, etc… cooking new things, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Also, when she could she loved visiting her good friends in Newmanstown, Pa., Greer Zellers and Art and Shirley Wealand; her sister-in-law, Leona 'Lee' Lucas and her husband Eugene Lucas in Springfield, Va., and knitting buddy Peggy Abbott. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Milford and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #2 in Dover. A funeral service was held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at 12 noon in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963, where friends called after 11 a.m. A visitation was held from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, Feb. 2. Interment was at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
