Barbara Ann Piccioni, 65

Posted

Barbara Ann Piccioni of Camden, Delaware, passed away Monday, September 15th, 2025, at Beebe Hospital.
She was born October 5th, 1959, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Barbara Koons. She was known as Barb to many, until her granddaughters arrived and she was promoted to the loving Nana Barb.
Nana Barb graduated from Penn State in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She began her career at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) Hospital before moving to Delaware in 1992 so her Husband, Larry, could go into private practice as an orthopedic surgeon. She worked at the Bayhealth Surgery Center for nearly 30 years. Beyond her work, she found joy in ceramics, cats, and a glass of champagne. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by her family and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dr. Lawrence Piccioni of Camden, DE; her daughters, Amanda Sumner (John) of Galena, MD and Jessica Roach (Conor) of Atlantic Highlands, NJ; her brother, Joseph Koons Jr (Eileen) of Alexandria, VA; her sister, Jen Koons of Pottsville, PA; and her two grandchildren, Alison and Grace Sumner.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at the Church of Holy Cross, 631 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to: Forgotten Cats, Inc. Suite 422, 4023 Kennett Pike, Greenville, DE 19807.
