GEORGETOWN - Aurie Lee Worden, of Georgetown, formerly of Marshall, Texas, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, in Delaware. She was 93.
Aurie was born Aug. 8, 1914, in Morton, Texas, daughter of James Arther Perkins and Pearlie Jane Crick Perkins.
During World War II, she built radios for Joe Goulden Radio in Marshall.
Aurie was a graduate of the Formfit School of Modern Corsetry.
She formerly worked for Marshall Pottery and a dress shop in Lubbock, Texas.
Aurie was of the Methodist faith and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Junior Worden; husband and father of her children, Arvel Preston Shepard; two daughters, Bertha Hammers Brown and Mary Morgan; son, Jerry Shepard; father, James Arther Perkins; mother, Pearlie Jane Perkins; brothers, Alvin Green and Charlie Monroe Perkins; sisters, Nina Stewart and Inez Overhultz Adkisson; and two grandsons, Tommy Morgan and Bryan Boone.
She is survived by her children, Rilla Mae Woodruff and husband Louis of Marshall, Wilma Jean Caraway and husband Elton of Georgetown and Arvel Preston Shephard and wife Louise of Mount Pleasant, Texas; her grandchildren, Ronnie Hammers, Wayne Woodruff, Randall Woodruff, Teresa Woodruff McGuire, Rhonda Woodruff Morris, Jenna Caraway, Gerald Caraway, Shelley Shepard Zanutto, Debbie Flowers Rusky, Eddy Morgan, Stacey Hartsell, Leeanna Shepard Randolph, Mark Shepard, Kendall Boone, Cynthia Shepard and Charlie Shepard Jr.; great-grandchildren, Blake Hammers, Blair Hammers, Michael Woodruff, J'Cee Woodruff Carothers, Scott Woodruff, Randall Woodruff Jr., John Louis Woodruff, Jason McGuire, Jeff McGuire, Holly Morris Cotton, Christopher Morris, Treyton Louis Zanutto, Trinity Alynne Zanutto, Anthony Morgan, Austin Hartsell, Ella Grace Hartsell, Trey Hartsell, Tony Shepard, Christopher Randolph, Ivy Shepard and Alex Rusky; great-great grandchildren, Alexis Renaé Woodruff, Michael Jake Woodruff, Addison Ann Carothers, Cash Scott Carothers and Mackenzie Jewel McGuire; brother and sister, John Holloway and wife Bonnie of Florida and Jessie Green and wife Maudine of Missouri; and niece, Margie Overhultz Hendry.
Funeral services were in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, with Donald Wayne McLendon officiating.
Interment followed in Algoma Cemetery South.
