Arthur Ross "Twinkle" Starr, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2018 surrounded by family.
Born on Jan. 15, 1925 in Pomona, Md., he was the son of the late Elmer Marshal Starr and Lula Grace Lee Starr.
Mr. Arthur was a kind hearted, generous, fun loving gentleman. He graduated from Chestertown High school and served his country proudly in the United States Army serving during WWII in the South Pacific under General MacArthur.
Mr. Starr worked as a cable splicer and retired after 39 years of service from the C&P Telephone Company. Mr. Starr enjoyed wood working, line dancing and playing the organ.
He was a life member and officer of the Millington VFW Post 652, Millington, Md. and a Member for Life of American Legion Post 36, Chestertown, Md.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Starr was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Starr; his sister, Grace Nelson; and a daughter-in-law, Pauline Starr.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Adele Enke; four children, Linda Williams and husband Frank, Nancy Meadows and husband Arley, John Starr and David Starr; four grandchildren, Gina Rhodes and husband Eric, Angie Wicks and husband Ernest, David M. Starr and wife Katie and Joseph Starr; and four great grandchildren, Leanne, Devin, Kylee and Isaac.
Mr. Arthur was loved by many and will be missed greatly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at 12 p.m. in the Chestertown Baptist Church, Chestertown, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Crumpton Cemetery with Military Honors.
