DOVER - Arthur D. "Dale" Mielke passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. He was 80. Dale was born on May 22, 1930, in Lawrence County, Pa., son of the late Irene (Cochran) and Reinhold Mielke. He was preceded by three brothers and a sister. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dale was a retired long-distance truck driver, and longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and bowling. He loved the mountains in Pennsylvania where he would spend his summer months. Dale is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Moore and her husband Robert of Camden; a son, Timothy Mielke and his wife Linda of New Castle, Pa.; five grandchildren, Kristen and Adam Barnes, Matthew Francis and Alexis Moore, all of Dover, Amanda and Bert Gerstnecker of Freedom, Pa., and Timothy Mielke of New Castle, Pa.; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Francis of Camden; his companion, Phyllis Tarburton of Dover; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will be private in Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Dale's honor to the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation, 105 N.
