MARYDEL, Md. - Arnold Chip Long Jr., of Marydel, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at home. He was 54. He was born on Oct. 19, 1954, in Dover, Del., to the late Betty Pinder and Arnold C. Long Sr. Mr. Long was a 1972 graduate of Dover High School. He was the owner and operator of his own tractor trailer business. He loved his friends, family, grandchildren and life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, riding his motorcycle and going to the dirt track to watch modified late model races. He was also a fan of drag racing, baseball, football and basketball. His favorite driver for modified dirt track was Doug Hoffman and for NASCAR was Matt Kenseth. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Connie Lorraine Long; son, Robert Clough and wife Crystal of Felton, Del.; two step daughters, Katrina Candelaria and husband Robert of Magnolia, Del., and Victoria Shelton and husband Mark of Kingston, Ga.; brother, Mark Long of Camden, Del.; sister, Shirley Davis of Hartly, Del.; six grandchildren, Julia Alexis, Hunter Thomas and Sydney Candelaria, Brock Clough, McKenzie Mitchell and Autumn Nicole Shelton; and beloved cat Tommy Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where a visitation will be held at noon. Interment will be in Templeville Cemetery, Templeville. Letters of condolence can be sent via fleegleandhelfenbein.com.
