GEORGETOWN - Anna Kay Behrens, formerly of Mechanicsburg, Pa., passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 at her home. Anna was born in Mechanicsburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Nevin and Louella May (Mengle) Shellenberger. Ann married Richard on Dec. 12, 1964. They shared 48 years of happiness. She was a 1964 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and obtained her B.A. from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa. She worked for many companies over the years such as Bell Telephone, Baker's Drafting, McCrory's, Orweco Frocks, and eventually retired PA Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Ann was very active in church. She belonged to Evangelical United Brethren which later became First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She was in charge of one of the Women's Sunday school class and helped teach it. When she and her husband moved to Georgetown, she became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Ann helped the church with many events, whose many members became part of her extended family. Ann was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the Georgetown Historical Society as well as on the Board of Directors. She was also on the Georgetown Adjustments Board. She was also a very active member of Delmarva Quilters. Ann made a number of quilts for family members. Ann loved to go to plays, musicals, concert series, and spend time with her grandchildren. She and her husband loved to go to the CHEER Center in Georgetown and Milford Senior Center. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Barry Shellenberger of Marysville. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Wesley Behrens; beloved children, Michelle Clarke, wife of John Clarke, Kristin Winner, wife of Les Winner; beloved grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Clarke and Rhiannon and Alexander Winner; beloved brother, John Shellenberger and his wife, Sharon; and sister-in-law, Nancy Shellenburger of Marysville, Pa. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be private. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to the Georgetown Historical Society, 510 S. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947 or the Wesley U.M. Church, 102 E. Laurel St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
