SMYRNA - Anna Belle Burns went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 28, 2018, after a long illness.
Anna Belle was born in Flat Top, W.Va. on Aug. 27, 1923 to the late Mamie and Isaac Moye. She grew up on the family farm and moved to Smyrna in 1942 to help with the war effort by making shells for the U.S. Navy at Triumph Explosives during WWII. She returned to West Virginia in 1946 and married Basil E. Burns. Together they had two daughters, Sandra and Sue, and moved to Delaware in 1952.
She was employed at Elton's Florist, Poore's Homemade Ice Cream, Leeds Travelware, and retired in 1984 from DE Hospital for the Chronically Ill.
Anna Belle enjoyed gardening, politics, candy making and most of all family gatherings. She was dearly loved by her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Basil of 38 years; brothers, Dorman, Teddy, and Vernon; sisters, Sylvia, Vie, Willie, Joy, Hallie, and Pauline.
Anna Belle is survived by her daughters, Sandra A. Pisarski (Joseph) of Clayton, D. Sue Hensley (William) of Smyrna; a granddaughter, Michelynn Suzanne Pisarski Troubetaris (Carl Sr.) of Dover; and great-grandson, Carl Troubetaris, Jr. of Dover; sisters, Marilee Rose, Susie Lilly, Jessie McVey; and brothers, Arnold and Dallas Moye.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m., at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St, Middletown. Service begins at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery.
