Ann H. Fields

SEAFORD - Ann H. Fields passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Genesis Seaford Center. Ann was born on March 30, 1922 in Felton the daughter of the late Gladys and Edgar Hill. She graduated from Harrington High School. She was one of the first women hired to work at the Seaford Dupont Nylon Plant in 1942 during the war. She got on the Dupont bus in Harrington which took the women to work each day at the plant. She loved going to the beach at Atlantic City with her co-workers. She left Dupont in 1947. Over the years, she worked at Vincent's Shoe Store in downtown Seaford, retired from F. W. Woolworth Co. after thirteen years, worked a short time at the Fashion Shop in the Nylon Capitol Shopping Center, and twelve years at the Golden Corral in Seaford. She was a devoted member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School classed and was active in the United Methodist Women. She faithfully attended services until she became too ill to attend. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cross word puzzles and collecting bells. Ann was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Ellen Mulford, two sisters, Gladys Mae Dill and Jane Rogers and her youngest granddaughter, Brielle Mulford. Ann is survived by a sister, Mary Jester of Chestertown, Md., two daughters, Pam Passwaters of Seaford and Jo Ann Fields of Dover, son-in-law, Frank Passwaters Sr, of Seaford, four grandchildren, Dawn Passwaters of Laurel, Amy Passwaters, Frank Passwaters Jr, and Skylar Mulford of Seaford and several nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The Family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Genesis Seaford Center, Delaware Hospice and friends who prayed for her while she was ill. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine & Poplar Streets, Seaford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to St. John's United Methodist Church, P O Box 299, Seaford, DE 19973. Condolences may be e-mailed to cranstonj@aol.com.
