aka 'Chuck', 50 REHOBOTH BEACH - Andrew Wayne Melton aka "Chuck", age 50 passed from this life on June 21, 2015 in Rehoboth Beach. Chuck was born on May 29, 1965 in Lewes, to the parents of the late Willie and Ida Melton. He is survived by his sister, Litenia N. Knight; niece, Ashley L. Knight, of Rehoboth Beach; two sons, Ryan Collins, Steven Collins; and their mother Sharon Collins of Lincoln; grandnephew, Larry Oliver, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach. He was a loving father and devoted family man. In his early years Chuck attended Friendship Baptist Church in Lewes. He was educated in the Cape Henlopen School District. He was an exceptional high school football and baseball athlete. He played in the Blue and Gold game. Chuck graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1983. Also he graduated from East Stroudsburg College with a major in Engineering in 1986. He accepted a position as a Waste Water technician at the City of Rehoboth, where he worked for 22 years. He also worked at the Rehoboth Elementary School as a custodian for three years. Chuck was a very social and active man. He was deeply involved in several sports especially football for the majority of his life. In addition, he enjoyed coaching football for the Cape Vikings Pop Warner and Beacon Middle School in Lewes. Chuck was a "BIG" fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Florida Seminoles, and Cape Henlopen football. He was a proud member of the Blue and Gold Alumni and Gift of Life organ donor program. Chuck liked to travel and enjoyed music from the artist "Frankie Beverly and Maze." He was kind generous man that would quietly help anyone as much as he could. Also, he will be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and sense of humor. Chuck also leaves to cherish his memory, aunts, Bessie Melton and Irene Melton of Lakeland, Fla.; Goddaughter, Andrea Brittingham; special friends; Carrie Dennis-Mayer and Kaleia Mayer of Middletown, Iris Collins of Newark, Harry Hudson of Millsboro and Gilbert Maull of Lewes, Rich Meacci of Dewey Beach; and a host of many other family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his uncle, Willie C. Melton; uncle, Willie Jet Melton; and niece, Andrenia Knight. The viewing will precede the service on July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Crossing in Milton. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church. A repass will be announced.
