GEORGETOWN - Amanda Lynn "Hax" Haxton, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 20.
Amanda was born in Dover, to Richard and Kathryn (Folke) Haxton.
She graduated in 2005 from Cape Henlopen High School and had attended the East Stroudsburg campus of University of Pennsylvania.
Amanda loved people, sports, dancing and going to the beach.
She excelled in many activities including field hockey, softball and track, especially pole vaulting and running.
Amanda participated in the All-State first team in both softball and field hockey, and while in college won first place in her dancing class' tango competition.
Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Mary K. Haxton; and her maternal grandfather, Clayton Folke.
She is survived by her parents, Richard and Kathryn "Kit" Haxton of Georgetown; a brother, Clint Haxton of Baltimore; two sisters, Adrian Haxton and Jamie Haxton of Georgetown; maternal grandmother, Kitty Folke of Georgetown; aunts and uncles, Mark and Maria Folke of Georgetown, Joe and Pam Haxton of Cordova, Md., Bill and Barbara Victory of Camden, David and Linda Haxton of Sandtown, Paul and Susan Haxton of Hazlettville, Darrell and Linda Prevatt of Decatur, Ala., Steve and Charlotte Haxton of Marlton, N.J., Jeff and Trisha Haxton of Magnolia, Mike and Lynn Haxton of Bowie, Md., and Mickey and Ann Houck of Biloxi, Miss.; great aunts and uncles, Thelma and Ronnie Folke of Georgetown, Clarica and Lowell Folke of Milford and James and Sophia Carlsson of Stamford, Conn.; and a host of cousins, friends and extended family.
A funeral service will be noon Thursday in the Goshen United Methodist Church, Federal and Mulberry streets, Milton, friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton.
Burial will be private.
