Alvin 'Gene' Hall, 86

SMYRNA - Alvin "Gene" Hall, of Smyrna, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, in his home. He was 86.

Mr. Hall was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Williamson, W.Va., to the late Evan Hall and Maude Walker Hall.

He lived most of his life in Indianapolis.

Mr. Hall and his wife moved to Smyrna in 2002.

He served in the U.S. Marines. He was a veteran of World War II during the Pacific Theater as part of the planes ground crew.

Mr. Hall worked as a salesman for several office equipment companies including the family-run office equipment store.

He enjoyed reading and Stan Kenton music.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sue May Hall.

He is survived by two daughters, Kay Melinda Hall and her husband Homer Pearcey of Foley, Ala., and Carol Reid Hall of Felton; his brother, Larry Hall and his wife Lois of Raleigh, N.C.; and his sister, Phyllis League of Baltimore.

A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Arc of Delaware, 1016 Centre Road, Suite 1, Wilmington, DE 19805–0683.
