JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Alma E. Sooy, 89, died Nov. 30, 2010. Born in Galloway Township, N.J., to Florence (Marie) and Edmund Hammell, she has lived elsewhere since 1941, including Baltimore and Federalsburg, Md., Seaford, Del., and, for the last six years, Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George E. Sooy. She is survived by three children, Kenneth G. Sooy, Sr. (Elaine), Sandra L. Doan (Carl), and Beverly J. Chapman (Richard); seven grandchildren, Denise Schwenger, Cheryl Ruggles, Daniel Sooy, Kenneth G. Sooy, Jr., Carol Sooy Rudert, Michelle Healy, Brian Chapman, and Poppy Pinner; 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pearl M. Vavrek. Funeral services were noon, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial followed at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
