After her retirement she started a babysitting service for her first grandson and other family and friends children. When her granddaughter reached school age, Allene gave up baby sitting and started as a substitute teacher in order to stay close to her granddaughter.
Allene was very active in her church of choice Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna. It became her second home and second family.
Even though being stricken with severe rheumatoid arthritis some years ago Allene remained a positive life loving person and kept her friendly outgoing personality to the very end.
Allene was preceded in death by both parents, all of her siblings, her beloved granddaughter Rachael Poore, as well as several sister and brother-in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.
