FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Aline Givens Bell, formerly of Federalsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday Night, Oct. 31, 2010, at the North Shore Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after a lengthy battle with lung disease. She was 84. Born in Laurel, Del., on Feb. 12, 1926, she was the first of 8 children to Charles H. and Margaret Allen Givens. A longtime resident of Federalsburg, Md., Aline and her husband, Earl, owned and operated Bell's Cut Rate for over 40 years on North Main Street. She served the Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg for many years in a variety of ways, most notable serving as the church organist for 21 years where she presided over countless church services and weddings. She was also the organist at Williamson Funeral Home for many years. Surviving her and by her side at the time of her death are her children, Cheryl S. West of Georgetown, Del., Earl R. Bell, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Janice A. Bell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kevin Todd, Sr., Sean Todd, Christina West-Ramirez, Angie Bell, Stephanie Bell, and Alicia Bell; 13 great-grandchildren and her brothers and sister, Ralph Givens, Minos Givens, Donald Givens, Burton Givens, Phyllis West, and Harold Wayne Givens. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Earl R. Bell, Sr.; and her oldest brother, Richard. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Union United Methodist Church, 301 North Main St., Federalsburg with the Rev. Daniel T. Gedman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Union United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main St. Federalsburg, MD 21632 or to the St. Thomas University Help Fund, Campus Ministry, 16401 NW 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33054.
