SMYRNA - Alice Baldwin Biggs of Smyrna, formerly of Middletown and Odessa, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, in her home.

Mrs. Biggs was a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she received her B.A. degree in art history.

She was a talented artist and especially enjoyed doing watercolors, and also worked as a designer at her mother's flower shop. Her artistic talents were evident in her daily life to all who knew her. She also had worked in the admissions department at the Wilmington Hospital, formerly known as the Delaware Division.

She enjoyed traveling, and expressed fond memories of her time in Egypt. Prior to her husband's death, both enjoyed dealing in the fine arts, and both were contributors to and were involved with the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, which was established by her late brother-in-law.

Mrs. Biggs was a lifetime member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Middletown. She was especially proud of her family's participation in the designing of the flag for the national Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Cowl and Mary Rose (Morris) Baldwin; by her husband of 21 years, Franklin B. Biggs, in 2004; and by a brother-in-law, Sewell Biggs.

She is survived by a host of relatives, friends and acquaintances who will fondly remember her for her caring and generosity.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 15 E. Green St., Middletown, followed by a reception in the church hall.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anne's Episcopal Church, PO Box 421, Middletown, DE 19709.

Arrangements by Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown.
