DOVER - Alice B. Landry, of Dover, was called home to be with her father in Heaven on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.

She was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Smyrna, to the union of the late Walter J. Rider and Gertrude (Green) Rider.

Alice was a parishioner of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, where she spent devoted time in worship and she was a former member of the Solidarity Women's Auxiliary.

She married Francis Landry Sr. on April 16, 1953, in Smyrna, and to this union they were blessed with eight children.

Alice retired from Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital after 26 years as a central supply technician.

During her precious life, she was a gift from God as a devoted wife, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She loved gardening, music and arts and crafts.

Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Mariah Rider; and her son, Bruce Landry.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Francis Landry Sr. of Dover; her daughter, Shirley Broomfield and her husband Albert of Palm Bay, Fla.; son, Francis Landry Jr. and his wife Kyungae of Springfield, Va.; son, Donald Landry and his wife Melvina of Dover; daughter, Mary Landry and her husband James of Dover; sons, James Landry and his wife Alisa, Gerald Landry and his wife Danielle, and Gerard Landry, all of Dover; sister, Mildred Johnson of Wilmington; niece, Michelle Johnson and her son Michael of Wilmington; grandchildren, Keith Landry, Sonya Brown, Bruce Brown, John Landry, Greg Landry, Mariah Landry, Alexis Landry, James Landry Jr. Jeremy Landry, Alisha Stevens and Lauren Wayman; great-grandchildren, Jerell Brown, JhaShawn Landry, Jamiah Brown, JhaZmond Landry, Zyona Landry, Jayvion Landry, Anadina Landry, Amiyah Landry, Ayanna Landry and Keloni Landry; a special friend of the family, William Newman; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Services will be noon Saturday in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be at Sharon Hills Cemetery.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
