Alfred H. Dukes

FRANKFORD - Alfred H. "Pete" Dukes, age 83 of Frankford, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011. Mr. Dukes was born in Dagsboro, on May 20, 1928, son of the late Harry E. and Bertha (Daisey) Dukes. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving from 1946-1948. Pete retired in 1988, where he served as an accountant and dispatcher at Cargill with 26 years of service. He then worked as a greeter at Melson Funeral Services from 2001 until his passing. Pete was a lifetime member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as Past President of the Company. He was also a member of Blackwater Fellowship Church in Frankford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Eva "Roberta" Dukes in 1999; infant identical twin boys, Bruce Edward and Dennis Albert Dukes in 1954; and a brother, Asher Lee Dukes in 1988. He is survived by a son, Wayne A. Dukes and his wife Dorothy of Millsboro; a brother, Roland M. Dukes and his wife Jean of Dagsboro; a sister, Olive Ann Milutin of Frankford; close family friends, Cristi Berrios and her husband Michael and their three children, Caylan, Miguel and Gabriel Berrios, all of Millsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be noon, Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends may call after 11 a.m. A visitation will also be held Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Carey's Cemetery, Frankford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Pete's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
