Agnes Dixon King

MILFORD - Agnes Dixon King of Milford died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 88. Mrs. King was born March 22, 1923 in Hallwood, Virginia to the late Nathaniel E. Byrd and Julia V. Hinman Byrd. She had driven a school bus for Capitol School District for many years. Mrs. King was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford, where she was very active in many of the church activities, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, C.F.O. camps. She was also a member of the Mary & Martha United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir. Mrs. King enjoyed gardening, flowers and plants. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Jesse Dixon in 1960; and son, Harry E. Dixon, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, David King of Milford; daughters, Joy Dixon of Newark, Del., Deborah Pick of Redding, Calif., Elizabeth La Rosa and Deborah Stromwasser both of Wilmington, Del.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, De 19963.
