Adrienne Lovelle Hendricks, 31

PHILADELPHIA - Adrienne Lovelle Hendricks of Philadelphia departed this life on Sunday, May 13, 2007, in the University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 31.

She was born in Philadelphia on Sept. 4, 1975, to Lula Mae Hendricks and the late Andrew Levi Durham.

She attended Philadelphia public schools, graduating from the University City High School in 1993. She continued her education at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Her career choice was in business.

She later became interested in human services, pursuing employment with the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, Waterhouse Consulting, and acquiring the position of administrative assistant with the Philadelphia Nursing Home.

However, Adrienne became ill in late February of 2006, and was no longer able to fulfill her obligations there.

To Adrienne, her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her daughter, Sierra Mone"t Hendricks. She loved traveling with Sierra, engaging her in meaningful activities such as dance, sports, entertainment and academics, but most importantly, Sierra"s spiritual growth.

One of Adrienne"s early accomplishments was membership in the Tots and Teens organization, which she actively participated in as a dancer.

She was also a member of the Girl Scouts of America.

After she became older, she wanted to personally be of service in helping others and setting an example of giving to others less fortunate. For example, Adrienne made soup and took blankets and socks to the streets of Center City, and distributed them to the homeless, along with her daughter Sierra by her side.

Adrienne cherished her family, and keeping family together was one of her most important goals. The love that she exhibited for others was ongoing and her faith in God was unshakable. She continued to show her love for people and her concern about their personal feelings, be it family, friends, doctors, nurses or other supportive staff throughout her illness which was evident by the quality of care that she received by the staff of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, seventh floor,Rhodes Pavillion.

She had varied interests from an early age, but her greatest love was planning activities with and for her daughter Sierra.

Adrienne was very involved with her family in forging relationships that would enhance her daughter"s growth and development.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her uncle, James Stuart.

She is survived by her mother, Lula M. Hendricks; her daughter, Sierra Mone"t Hendricks, both of Philadelphia; her uncles and aunts, Helen Stuart, Louis and his wife, Joan Hendricks of Philadelphia, David Hendricks Jr. of Baltimore, Marion and his wife, Pearl Hendricks of Georgetown, Del., Elroy and his wife, Vivian Hendricks of Dover, Del., Clarence and his wife, Janet Hendricks and Victor and his wife, Penny Hendricks of Harrington; her aunts, Verian Plummer of Charlotte, N.C., Elizabeth House of Colorado, and Vidalia Waites of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends to include Adrienne"s childhood friends, Shannon Morris, Frances Loman, Jersishia Seaward; her constant companion who stayed by her side in the hospital, Ernest Steward, Thomas Murray, Lee Corley, and Janet Chaney, spiritual prayer warrior.
