Sussex Technical High School carpentry teacher receives recognition

GEORGETOWN — Charles “Charlie” Hoard, Sussex Tech’s HVACR teacher, was recently honored as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Instructor/Trainers of 2024.  

Mr. Hoard was nominated and selected through a collaboration between HVAC Excellence and TruTEch Tools. Mr. Hoard was 1 of 25 selected from nearly 1,000 nominations. 

In celebration of his achievement, Mr. Hoard, along with the other winners, will be recognized during the 2024 National HVACR Education Conference. 

Mr. Hoard has been an HVACR teacher since 1983. His career started with the State of Delaware HVAC Apprenticeship. He then taught at Paul M. Hodgson Vo-Tech, Howard High School of Technology, and started with Sussex Technical High School in 2018. He also teaches classes at Delaware Tech and Polytech Adult Ed. 

Mr. Hoard said, “A teacher to me always hopes the current generation of students will build on the past generation and improve, advance, and enrich future generations.”
