Speak Up: Dover mayor assures integrity of probes into police use-of-force incident

Posted

Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen, in a Nov. 9 press conference, sought to assure citizens that an alleged city police use-of-force incident last month is under thorough — and independent — investigation. Hoping to dispel what he called “unfounded speculation” from some in the community, the mayor noted that the Dover Police Department and the Delaware Department of Justice’s Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust are conducting separate probes of the event, which left 50-year-old Michael Jarrett hospitalized for 12 days, Mayor Christiansen said.

  • I thought these pastors were supporting the victim and his family and trying to heal the community, but yet, they are standing with the mayor and supporting him? I’m confused. — Ruth Hamilton
