Smiga: Biden’s actions don’t benefit ‘average citizens’

Posted

There have been a number of Opinions criticizing American citizens who choose to support President Donald Trump. But, if you look at what he actually accomplished for the benefit of “we, the average citizen,” there was good for us and for this nation.

When he served as president, there was a very healthy economy; we had the ability to save money for our retirement and for personal needs (such as purchasing a home at a low interest rate, buying a new or second vehicle, vacation traveling); we were the largest producer of oil to assure meeting our critical energy needs; and groceries, gas, prescriptions, etc., were all less expensive.

I am 78 years old and served proudly in the Navy Reserve for two years and then four years in the Army security agency. But, these days, I see our nation being subjected to hatred by the left, especially under Joe Biden’s administration. And we seem to be the laughingstock of the Chinese, Russians, Iranians and now North Koreans.

The current administration has opened our borders to illegal immigrants and has chosen to ignore the outrageous onslaught of this violation of the rule of law. And, while the head of the Department of Homeland Security says the border is secure, the Mexican cartel is shipping illegal drugs into our nation that are killing American citizens. And Biden has continued to either remain silent or repudiate the harm being done to the citizens he is supposed to protect. Why? Is it because he really does not have a deep concern for the average citizen? Or is he focused on other issues more important to him?

Meanwhile, look at the “blue cities.” Their top officials have focused on care and service to illegals, while ignoring the needs of their own citizens. Why is that? My mother-in-law and son-in-law went through a lot to come legally from Mexico, with my mom-in-law even being sent back to Mexico for nine months, after her civil marriage to an American citizen, because something was still “not in order.”

Today, under Biden, the country is struggling with high interest rates; unbelievably high gas prices; substandard education (in many public elementary, middle and high schools, despite funding received); high grocery and prescription prices; and rising crime. And, meanwhile, under the Biden administration, there is forced critical race theory in our school system, equity requirements and allowing trans males (who claim to be females) to use the female facilities.

Now, United Auto Workers is on strike, demanding ever-higher wages and benefits, while the auto companies have built electric vehicles that the American people do not want to purchase (in part, due to extremely high prices). Those vehicles are not selling as anticipated. And now, there is the added situation of those companies likely wanting Biden to help them, adding yet more to the huge debt on the American people. And, all the while, Biden continues to push for these vehicles, as he wants to eliminate gas-operated vehicles.

This past month, Biden was in Hanoi, Vietnam, and while there, he did not choose to criticize our No. 1 enemy (China). He does not think there is a conflict with China, and he ended his brief statement by saying: “I don’t know about you, but I’m going to bed.” And why do a vast number of products sold in our stores say, “Made in China?” And why is so much of our land being sold to Chinese ownership?

Wake up, America, and see what Biden is doing that is destroying our economy and our nation and harming we, “the average citizen.” The Democratic leaders have ruined our nation, and yet they continue to protect Joe Biden and his harmful policies and actions. Why? And why do so many continue to focus on attacking President Trump, while not mentioning anything negative happening to “we, the average citizen and our nation” under the Biden administration?

It is time for we, average citizens, to vote for leaders whose policies and actions bring good to us and to our nation (for our children/grandchildren), instead of voting based mostly on “personality” or “party.”
