DOVER — A second individual has been charged in a fatal shooting that occurred Nov. 24, 2022.
Dover police said Khalil Peden, 23, of Bear, was taken into custody without incident at a Wilmington residence Wednesday. He had been indicted Nov. 6.
The indictment comes about a year after officers found Walter Pereira, 29, of Dover, with gunshot wounds on Forest Creek Drive, authorities said. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
Mr. Peden faces charges of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $1 million cash bail.
The day of the shooting, police arrested Rayvaughn Jones, 29, of Dover, in connection with the case. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, among other offenses.
