GEORGETOWN — Sussex Technical High School increased its security team for the new academic year.
Led by Glenn Dixon, coordinator of school safety and lead constable, the team includes a school resource officer, climate officers and constables.
Mr. Dixon worked for the Delaware State Police from 1988 to 2021. Following his retirement as a captain, he joined Sussex Tech as a driver’s education/safety and climate officer. He was promoted to his current position for the 2023-24 year.
Chase Petrella, Tech’s SRO, will return for his second year. He joined the security team following 10 years with the state police.
After serving as a state trooper for 27 years, Brian Conlin has been a Sussex Tech climate officer for 14 years.
Jose Mendez joined the security team as a constable in April. Previously, he was a constable at Bayhealth for 20 years.
Jerrilyn Holmes was a climate officer in the high school but relocated to its Adult Education division. She joined the security team a year-and-a-half ago, following her retirement as a correction officer at Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown.
Lastly, following a 32-year career with the state police, Mark Windsor joined Tech as a full-time constable this year.
The school’s faculty and staff have been trained in the standard response protocol and standard reunification methods created by the I Love U Guys Foundation and adopted by the Delaware Emergency Management Agency’s Comprehensive School Safety Program.
