Rowe: Promoting a victim mentality only weakens everyone

This is in response to the following legislative action:

House Bill 275 was introduced Dec. 14, 2023, by Rep. Eric Morrison, D-Glasgow, and a slew of co-sponsors to amend titles 6, 11, 18, 19 and 25 of the Delaware Code, relating to “sexual orientation,” to include asexuality and pansexuality, according to a bill summary on the Delaware General Assembly website.

Rep. Morrison operates in a world of fiction. Make-believe! HB 275 is such a work of fiction. The victims he proclaims need such legislation do not even exist, by his own admission: “I don’t per se know of anyone who’s been discriminated (against) for this, but oftentimes, in legislation, we codify things for people we don’t personally know,” Morrison said. “We don’t see this much in Delaware, thankfully, but in today’s environment, when community members are under attack, ... it’s really important that young people, and any people, are able to see themselves represented anywhere we can and in the Delaware Code.”

He knows of no one suffering from being asexual or pansexual, but let’s put legislation into effect and spend the taxpayers’ money to do so. La-La Land doesn’t really exist, Mr. Morrison. And you don’t pen laws hoping that they do occur to justify your actions.

Each legislator swears an oath (subscribes) before God and man to support the Delaware and U.S. constitutions.

Section 21 of the Delaware Constitution states: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged on account of race, color, national origin, or sex.”

As you can see, asexuals and pansexuals are already protected under Delaware law. The labeling of groups (identity politics) is a Marxist methodology of creating division among people. The leftist extremists in the Delaware Democratic Party promote a Marxist agenda, which aims to legislate progressive left policies to create division and chaos among the people of Delaware.

One’s sexuality has no business being a deciding factor in any government action. This is an individual’s private business and is not subject to government action. Most Democratic voters do not agree with the extreme legislation being put forth by the likes of Mr. Morrison. Let’s stop wasting the taxpayer’s time and money, and creating division with this nonsense, when we need to come together.
