Richardson: Political cartoons too left-leaning

Posted

On March 12, on your Opinion page, a cartoon appeared disparaging Republican Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama. On March 11, the target of cynicism was Republican President Donald Trump. On March 10, Republican candidate Nikki Haley was ridiculed. On March 5, you selected Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky as the topic of amusement. The Supreme Court has been ridiculed March 3, 6 and 7. March 2 contained a cartoon disparaging the “Make America Great Again” movement.

In summary, during the first 12 days of March, eight have been focused on mocking Republican and/or right-leaning topics. Though you state that you do not take political positions, I have yet to see any cartoons ridiculing some of the crazy, far-left extremist views. I sincerely hope your selection of cartoons changes going forward to truly present a balanced variety of opinions. I do not find the current cartoons amusing in the least. Thank you for listening.
