MIDDLETOWN — A 24-year-old Middletown man died from injuries suffered Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision on Warwick Road, south of Middle Neck Road, Delaware State Police said.
The man was a passenger in a Mercury Grand Marquis that collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee at approximately 8:18 p.m., spokeswoman Sgt. India Sturgis said. The identification of the victim is pending notification of kin.
The driver of the Jeep, a 57-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 63-year-old woman, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, were transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mercury, a 24-year-old man from Townsend, was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sgt. Sturgis said it is unknown which direction the vehicles were traveling in before the collision nor which crossed over the double yellow lines into the oncoming lane.
The road was shut down for approximately seven hours, while the scene was cleared.
