Yvonne Ellen Banks Batchelor

MILLSBORO - Yvonne B. Batchelor, 78, of Millsboro, passed away on Sept. 25, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Salisbury, Md., on July 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Mildred L. Taylor Banks. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where she had served as the Church Coordinator for St. Mark's Meals on Wheels Program and also was Chairperson of the United Thanks Offering. She was a registered nurse graduating from the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She served as a school nurse at Millsboro Public School, and the Frankford Elementary School. In addition, she was a member of the Millsboro Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Delaware State Volunteer Fire Association Auxiliary. She was a member of the State Nurse's Association. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norman F. Batchelor; three daughters, Betsy Bradley-Gilson, and her husband, Rev. Kim Gilson, of Chrisfield, Md., Norma B. Bergey, and husband Curtis, of Chesapeake, Va., and Teresa B. Osborn, and her husband, Lon, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Thomas T. Banks, of Eden, Md.; and a sister, Katharine B. Allen, of Mardella Springs, Md.; and four grandchildren, William R. Bergey, Kristina E. Bergey, Megan Elizabeth Bradley, and S. Elizabeth K. Osborn. Services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Millsboro, with the Rev. David Archibald and Rev. Ken Gilson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions either to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, PO Box 124, Millsboro, DE 19966; or to the Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Lane, Milford, DE 19963.
