DEWEY BEACH — A woman has died from injuries sustained in a balcony collapse Monday, Dewey Beach police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m., when a third-floor balcony detached from a residence at 4 Read Ave. The structure fell about 10 feet to a balcony below, authorities said.

Two women from South Webster, Ohio, ages 47 and 57, were injured in the incident. They were initially transported to Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, in stable condition, police said. Both were later transported to ChristianaCare, Newark.

Police said the 57-year-old victim succumbed to her injuries Tuesday. The 47-year-old woman suffered multiple fractures.

The Dewey Beach Police Department continues to investigate, along with town officials and other outside agencies.
