WILMINGTON — A special election will take place Saturday for residents of the House of Representatives’ 4th District.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Department of Elections’ New Castle County office must receive absentee ballots for the election by 8 p.m. Saturday for the votes to be counted.
The seat was left empty by Democrat Gerald Brady, who resigned in late January due to worsening effects of PTSD from his time in the military. A few days later, he was arrested by Newark police in connection with two instances of shoplifting.
The winner will serve the remainder of Mr. Brady's term, until November.
Delaware native and longtime Wilmington City Councilman Charles “Bud” Freel is coming out of retirement to run as a Democrat.
Ted Kittila, a lawyer from Downstate who moved to Wilmington to build a family later in life, is on the ticket as a Republican.
