WILMINGTON — Delaware State Police have made an arrest on Wednesday afternoon in relation to a month-long drug investigation.

Spokesperson Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said that troopers allegedly observed 33-year-old Wilmington man Jamar Rogers exiting a residence and entering his 2010 Nissan Maxima at approximately 1 p.m. in the unit block of Pike Creek Road. Police said that troopers attempted to detain Mr. Rogers for the pending search warrant execution, but he attempted to flee in his vehicle. Troopers were surrounding the car to block his escape, and officials said Mr. Rogers refused to obey troopers’ commands to exit the car and resisted arrest, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Approximately 845 bags of heroin packaged for sale were located inside the vehicle and a search warrant of Mr. Rogers’ residence found an additional 1,155 bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 580.36 grams of marijuana, police said. Mr. Rogers was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 6 and charged with driving without a valid license, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance Tier 1 quantity. He has been committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $36,650 cash bail.
