WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Friends football squad has been named the state Team of the Year for 2022 by the Delaware Sportswriters & Broadcasters Association.
The Quakers finished the season 13-0 after winning the DIAA Class 2A state championship. It was only the second state title that Friends has won in the sport and its first since 1984.
In going undefeated, the Quakers posted four shutouts, averaging 33.8 points per game while giving up only 6.0.
The Quakers and other award winners will be honored at the DSBA’s 74th annual luncheon on Feb. 20 at a site TBA.
