William Thomas McClain

DOVER - William Thomas McClain passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at KGH Bay Health Dover. He was born on July 25, 1925 in Middletown, Del. to the late George and Addie Ivory McClain. Mr. McClain retired as a test coordinator from ILC after a 35 year career. In 1943 he was drafted in to the Army and became part of the support staff for the invasion of Normandy. He remained in Europe until the end of the war. After leaving the military he returned to Delaware and on March 31, 1946 married Ruth Daniels, a marriage which lasted 63 years. His hobbies included woodworking, working with his tools, gardening, and NASCAR motorsports. His is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Daniels McClain; five brothers, George, Norman, John, Harry, and Donald; and one sister, Elizabeth. He is survived by son, Courtney Conner of Dover; daughter, Barbara Conner of Dover; sister, Josephine Collison of Camden; sister-in-law, Octavia McClain of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews. Remembrance Services will be held at noon on Wed., Sept. 11, 2013, at Trader Funeral Home in Dover. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden.
