William S. Cain Jr.

S. Cain, Jr., 81 VIOLA - William "Bill" S. Cain, Jr. passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Mr. Cain was born on Aug. 18, 1931 in Harrington, Del. to Naomi and William S. Cain, Sr. Mr. Cain was a Cable Maintenance Splicer for Diamond State Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring in 1986, and later returned to the telephone company as an Engineering consultant in which he worked an additional 6 years. In his retirement Mr. Cain enjoyed golfing, crabbing in the Chesapeake, fishing in the Delaware Bay, and net fishing with his best friend, Jack Donovan. He was a Navy Veteran, serving four years on the U.S.S. Worchester. Mr. Cain was an active member in his community where he served as a past President of the Telco Club, organizer to the Rod and Gun Club, and was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge. Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his brother, George Donald Cain; and his son, Lawrence Cain. Mr. Cain is survived by his wife, Ann H. Cain; son, Duane R. Harrell and his wife Kelley of Harrington; daughter, Sue A. Burchett and her husband Joe of Harrington; mother-in-law, Ada S. Hancock; sister-in-law, Jean H. Horan and her husband Bill of S.C.; six grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Yost, Hannah and Rachel Harrell, and Tanya and Christopher Cain; and three great- grandchildren, Pryce Cain, Skyler Yost and Dylan Yost. He will be missed by friends and family as well as his poodles, Charlie and Trapper. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 in Lakeside M.E. Cemetery, N. State Street, Dover, DE. The family asks in lieu of flowers, contribution be made to Kent County SPCA located on 32 Shelter Circle, Wyoming, DE. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
