HOOPER'S ISLAND - William "Jack" McGlaughlin passed away on May 28, 2012, at his home. Born on Aug. 12, 1940, in Fishing Creek, Md., he was the son of the late Willie Henry and Helen Creighton McGlaughlin. On July 24, 1960, at the Hooper's Island Parsonage, Jack was united in marriage to the former Priscilla Kinnamon by the Reverend Irvin Collins. He was a supporter of the Hosier Memorial Methodist Church and the Hooper's Island Volunteer Fire Company. Jack worked at the Calvert Cliff Power Plant, was a waterman for 60 years and boat builder for 40+ years. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and had many friends. He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, playing cards at Hooper's Island General Store, fishing, crabbing, boat building and going to dinner with his friends. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed tremendously. Man's Best Friend, his German Sheppard "Sassy," was with him wherever he went. Surviving him besides his wife Priscilla, are three children, William McGlaughlin Jr. and his wife Teresa of Golden Hill, Johnny McGlaughlin of Cambridge, Patti Brohawn and her husband Darrell of Cambridge; grandchildren, Katie Reid and husband Jeremy, Freddie McGlaughlin, Taylor McGlaughlin, Heather McGlaughlin and her companion Shane, Victoria Brohawn and Ray Brohawn, Jeremy Kapela and wife Jen, Tony Kapela; great-grandchildren, Chloe Sharp, Ashley Kapela, and J.J. Kapela; three sisters, Vivian Mitchell, Julia Poore, Mary Ellen Simmons and husband Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents were sisters, Ella Pleger and Olive Elzey; and daughter in-law Judy McGlaughlin. Funeral Services will be held at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A. Cambridge, Friday, June 1, 2012, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with visitation an hour prior to service. Family will also receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Doug Ridley and Rev. Delmer Willey. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Simmons, Bo Powley, Leroy Bell, Bubby Powley, Don Kinnamon, Ronnie Robbins, Johnny Parks and Joseph Ruark. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Barnes, Calvin Travers, John Fetcho, Richard Ruark, Eddie Robbins, Satch Jones, Sonny Phillips, Sonny Ruark, Wayne Simmons and Gee McClain. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jack may be made to Hosier Memorial Methodist Church Fund, P.O.
