GREENWOOD - William H. Wilson Jr. passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. He was born to the late William and Nancy Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a Sergeant for the Government Printing Office as a federal police officer. He also worked for 13 years with the Manhattan Police Department, and did a lot of undercover work. Since he was a teen, Mr. Wilson belonged to the Belmore, New York Fire Department. He currently was active with the Houston Fire Police after transferring from the Marydel Fire Police. Mr. Wilson was an avid ham radio enthusiast for many years, and his code M2XKO will forever be retired. Every May he traveled to the Ohio ham radio fest with family and friends. Another great interest of his was camping. He loved to escape to Florida every February with his family. He also enjoyed shooting, and loved to teach his daughter Nancy how to shoot. After marrying the love of his life, Mr. Wilson embraced her Greek culture and traditions. He enjoyed his mother-in-law's Greek cuisine every day for lunch which made his co-workers jealous. Mr. Wilson enjoyed volunteering even if it meant little time to sleep. His son, John, is following in his footsteps with his career choice and volunteer service. Mr. Wilson's high values were such a positive influence on his kids, that they emulate his giving spirit for others and themselves. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking and teasing others. He was a very loving and giving husband who was deeply devoted to his marriage. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Police in New York, and a member of the St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Despina Wilson of Greenwood; sons, Ioannis "Big John" and Demitri "James" Wilson both of Greenwood; daughter, Anastasia "Nancy" Wilson of Greenwood; brother, Brian Wilson of Pa.; sisters, Cindy Worsdale of Long Island, N.Y., and Kate Boyce of San Diego, Calif. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington.
