He was born on April 12, 1928 in Cheswold, Del. to the late Olin and Hallie Newton Davis and was one of five children. His early years were spent at Kenton school, but the family moved to Maryland and he completed his education at Sudlersville High School. He enjoyed sports and played on the schools basketball team. Always a man with a zest for life, he loved music, dancing, and travel. He enjoyed driving, especially around the old back roads, and often reminisced about his first car, a 1952 Lincoln. He was a hard working family man, a dairy farmer who still enjoyed jumping on a tractor to mow the lawn. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Dunkin Donuts. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Vetter Davis of Dover, Del.; a son and his wife, William R. and Beth Davis of Elkton, Md.; a son and his wife, Robert L. and Kathy Davis of Frederica, Del.; daughter and her husband, Cynthia L. and Larry Hebebrand of Clermont, Fla. Memorial Services will be held Sunday Oct. 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, Del. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call one hour before the time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
